Ian is a graduate of the
University of Arkansas with a B.S. degree. His professional
coaching career spans over a 25-year period (20th year with the
Stingrays) with over 20 years of competitive swimming experience.
Ian is a former team captain for his alma mater; he represented
Great Britain, England and Wales and is a former Scottish National
Champion in the 1500-meter Freestyle. His accomplishments as a
coach include a USA Swimming National Coach selection (2008, 2009
& 2010), two time Georgia Senior Coach of the Year, a level 4
ASCA certification, coach of Zone Championship teams in three
states, guest speaker at the Georgia Coaches Clinic, coach of an
Age Group Stroke Technique National Champion and has been selected
by USA Swimming to coach at numerous United States Swimming
sponsored clinics. He has coached International & National
Championship level swimmers, numerous Top 16 nationally ranked
swimmers, plus Georgia State record holders.
Ian took the reins of Stingrays
Swimming in 1992 and with the organization has developed the
Stingrays coaching philosophy of "Training for Life." Ian has also
been active member for GA Swimming being the past Senior Chairman
and a member of the GA Swimming Technical Planning committee since
1995. He is also a life long member of ASCA, a past Chairman of the
Southern Sectional and USA Swimming Senior Time Standards
Committee. Ian is married to Cynthia and has a daughter
Krista.
Angie joined the Stingrays
coaching staff in 2008. Growing up Angie is from Marietta Ga,
finished with Swim Atlanta under Jeff Hike and graduated from
Lassiter High School in 2001. She went to University of Louisville
on a Swimming Scholarship, placed top 5 in conference-USA all 4
years. She graduated in 2005 with a Bachlors degree in Sport
Administration. In 2005 Angie became part of the coaching staff of
the Lakeside Seahawks in Louisville KY and coached under Mike
Deboor for over 3 years. She has coached novice to national olympic
trial swimmers. She has also taught lessons for the Swim America
program.
Pike joined the
Stingrays coaching staff in 1994. He swam for Coach Ian from
1986-1988 in Campbellsville Kentucky. He then went to Miami
University (Ohio) on a swimming scholarship, going on to swim at
the U.S. Nationals in 1992. He has been instrumental in the
development of Top 16 nationally ranked swimmers, Age Group
Sectional and State champions. He has been responsible for the
development of the Stingrays’ Strength and Conditioning
program and manual and made significant contributions to the
Stingrays Age Group program. Pike was named Head Zone Coach for
Georgia and became the Mountain View Lead Coach in 2003.
Coach Andrew started with the
Stingrays in 1993; in 1995 he became the Lead Coach of the West
Facility. Andrew was named 2001-2002 Age Group Coach of the Year
for the State of Georgia. He was named as an Assistant Zone Coach
in 1998 and the Head Zone Coach for Georgia in 1999. He has been
instrumental in the development of an Age Group National Record
holder, Top 16 nationally ranked swimmers, Georgia State record
holders, Zone, Region and State champions. Andrew has taken a vital
role in Georgia swimming over the past 5 years. He currently is in
his second year as the Chairperson for the Georgia Coaches Commitee
and sits on the Georgia Swimming Board of Directors. He is a
University of Wisconsin-Madison Graduate and Schaeffer Scholarship
recipient. Andrew also swam and lettered for the UW and was a High
School All-American Consideration swimmer. Andrew is married to
Kelly and has two children Kyle and Olivia.
Britney has been a part of the Stingray family since 1994 when
she started swimming for Coach Andy at the age of 12. She graduated fromEtowahHigh School
in 2000 where she was captain of the swim team. Britney went on to
BelmontUniversity
(
Nashville
,
TN
) where she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business
Administration with an emphasis in Music Business in 2005.
She
has been teaching lessons since 1998 and began coaching for
Stingrays in 2007 at MVAC with the Age Group program. In 2008 she moved to the ECST pool coaching
Rookies and overseeing lessons. As of
2010 Britney became a lead assistant coach for ECST and is excited
to continue her career as a Stingray!
